Personality
Philo for the most part is a friendly and outgoing tom. As long as you haven’t done something to piss him off or annoy him then he is usually fairly easy for most to get along with him. He is a very loyal friend and will almost always put the needs of those he cares about before his own. Despite the fact that he usually seems to be in a good mood and is easy going anyone who actually gets to know tends to believe that he is a bit of a pessimist though Philo will argue that he is more of a realist than a pessimist and that it isn’t his fault that reality tends to lean more towards the gloomy side.
Along with his friendly and outgoing nature, Philo is also very charming. After spending much of his life in bed with other cats he eventually learned the ways to charm others and would often use it on the toms and queens who visited him regularly in order to get them to buy him stuff. Although Philo did not enjoy being forced to sleep around by his parents, he has become a very lustful cat as he has gotten older. He is willing to sleep with just about anyone, but it is always on his own terms.
While Philo is very open to sleeping with just about anyone, he will not sleep with friends. This rule stems from the fact that Philo refuses to fall in love ever again. After having his heartbroken at the age of 13 he swore to never fall in love again for fear that he would only end up having his heartbroken again. In his mind if he sleeps with someone he is already close to then the possibility of developing feelings for them increases greatly and he does not want that to happen. At this point he doesn’t believe it is possible for any two cats to be happily in love and anyone who tries to claim they are, are very likely just deluding themselves.
History
The story of Philo’s life began on the night that both of his parents, high on whatever drug they had taken that evening, decided they were going to try to have a kitten. No one ever really knew the reason his parents had decided to have a kitten in the first place as they weren’t exactly the type to want or be able to take care of a kitten. His parents were drug addicts and spent much of their time out partying with their friends. Whatever the case his parents were able to conceive him on the very night they made that decision and before too long their new kitten joined the family. Despite his parents complete lack of parenting skills they managed to keep the young kitten alive. However, once he was old enough to walk and talk his parents were already back to their old ways. Even though he still really wasn’t old enough to be home alone Philo managed to get by on his own since his parents spent the majority of their days away from their home. His lonely days didn’t last forever though.
It started on one of the few times his parents returned to their home. When they walked in he paid them little notice. The fact that they brought another tom in with them didn’t seem all that important either. It wasn’t unusual for his parents to bring their friends home with them from time to time. As he discovered though the tom was actually a drug dealer that his parents often used to get their fix. That day his parents were unable to find the money to buy their drugs. Although Philo thought that would be the end of the deal he didn’t realize just how addicting the drugs his parents used actually were. It was a surprise when he heard his mother offer herself for the night in order to pay for their dirty habit. The tom had refused the offer, but instead of leaving that day he gave them a different option to pay for their drugs. One that would make Philo’s life take a far darker turn. The tom had offered to give them the drugs if he could have Philo for the night. Despite his parents’ initial shock they quickly agreed to the offer. That night was the worst night Philo had ever had and as it turned out it was far from being the last. Upon discovering that they could pay for their drugs by using their son instead of spending money which was hard for them to come by, his parents had been all for the idea. Philo ended up spending many of his nights like that first night thanks to his parents’ greed.
When Philo was 13 and was just becoming a teenager he fell in love for the first time. By this time he had gotten somewhat used to spending nights with random toms and the occasional queen so that his parents could get their drugs. On a night he was allowed a break since his parents had yet to run out of drugs again, he was introduced to one of their closest friends, a tom named Maximus. Though the tom was much older than him, likely about 25, he was kind and friendly to Philo. Most of the cats his parents brought home with them tended to ignore him or were just there to spend the night with him, but this one actually seemed interested in getting to know him so it wasn’t a real surprise when the young tom fell hard for him. Finally one day after spending so much time with Maximus, Philo admitted to having feelings for the older tom. When the tom claimed that he felt the same way Philo was beyond thrilled. That was also the first time he spent the night with Maximus. Over the next few weeks Philo spent most of his nights with Maximus despite his parents annoyance. Philo was on cloud nine during these weeks, but would soon crash and burn.
Since Philo was still young and had never experienced love before he didn’t realize that though Maximus claimed to feel the same way that Philo did it was far from the truth. The older tom was physically attracted to the young tom, but felt no love for him. He used the young teen’s infatuation for him to be able to sleep with him without having to pay Philo’s parents, not that the teen’s parents didn’t still try to get money out of him. Philo discovered Maximus’s lie when he by chance encountered Maximus on the streets one day. The older tom had been in the middle of making out with a beautiful queen when Philo discovered them. Shocked, Philo had asked why Maximus was with the queen if he was in love with Philo. Maximus had only chuckled and admitted to lying to Philo in order to sleep with him. The young tom was completely heartbroken at this confession. He gave the cruel tom a swift, hard kick to his most sensitive area before running back home. After that day he swore to never fall for a lie like that again. He would never love again and so would never have his heart broken again either.
Once Philo returned home his parents forced him to return to sleeping with random cats so that they could get more drugs again. He no longer put up a fight when his parents brought toms and queens home for him. As he got a bit older he realized that he actually enjoyed sleeping with other cats, though he much preferred the company of toms to queens. Despite the fact he found that he enjoyed sleeping around he no longer wanted to be used as payment for his parents drugs. So on a day his parents were out he quickly grabbed the few things that were his and left his parents’ home. Since he didn’t exactly have anywhere else to go he would go to bars and other nightly hotspots in order to seduce a tom or queen who would then take him to their homes for the night. Eventually he met a Jellicle [Open] who told him he would be welcomed into the tribe and upon agreeing was brought to the junkyard where he met many of the different Jellicles living there.
Notes
Philo is bisexual though he likes toms a bit more than queens. He sleeps around a lot and doesn’t really care what others think of this habit of his. He is quite a bit shorter and thinner than most toms since he spent much of his kitten years fairly malnourished.
