- Blunt - Neira is definitely one of the most honest cats around - to the point of rudeness - and has no issues saying what needs to be said whether it is good or bad. She has never really grasped the concept of tactfulness suprisingly as her brutal honesty has got her into more scrapes than she can count. A cat who values the truth is a cat Neira will respect. Sure, she enjoys the odd mind game or puzzle but when it comes to felines who employ these tactics simply to deceive and destroy, she'll tear them to shreds - either with her voice or her claws. She has no time for bullshit. Especially when it's the cats in charge who are spewing out the garbage.
- Troublemaker - Neira does not follow social nor tribal rules very well. Sure, she doesn't blatantly disobey them but sniffs at authority and has many opinions about what needs to be changed. If she could be bothered, there are many things she'd like to tear down and rebuild in feline society as a firm believer in you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. However, despite these 'noble' ambitions, she lacks the drive and is much to lazy to even try and take power. She enjoys the small daily victories. Maybe if there was a greater prize, she'd fight for some influence but for now she's quite content tormenting her fellow tribe members. Afterall, to quote Edmund Blackadder, "A man may fight for many things. His country, his principles, his friends. The glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn."
- Architect - No, she doesn't design buildings but she is a designer of plans and strategies. This is a useful skill in many situations - especially in fighting where the ability to see three moves ahead is a real gift - and is probably one of the only reasons the tribe puts up with her. She's a problem solver. If there's something that needs fixing, she is more than willing to take on the challenge merely for the fun of it (and also to show her superiority haha). When she is interested in things, she approaches them wholeheartedly and enthusiastically and is determined to see them out to the end.
- Insensitive - As mentioned before, Neira lacks tact. Because she believes that other peoples' opinions are meaningless and doesn't let their words affect her, she thinks that everyone else has a similar dragon hide to hers. She can be condescending and downright mean if she wants to be. She takes a little too much pride in her knowledge and abilities and tends to dismiss others right away without giving them a chance to prove themselves. She struggles to feel and show sympathy and will often use sarcasm in response to someone having a rough time. Or just tell them to deal with it with the good old British stiff upper lip.
- Reserved - It may seem odd for a tactless cat to be considered reserved at the same time but it is true in Antianeira's case. Giving out opinions is not the same as giving out emotions. Due to a largely solo life, her aquaintances are few and her friends even less. She avoids interacting with others too much, prefering her own company. Though she'll act like a brash, overconfident queen when she does. Afterall, she does believe herself to be greater than most other cats. Her more 'undesirable' emotions such as fear, anger, and sorrow are kept private and suppressed until her weekly bust up at one of the local fight clubs where she lets it all out - first with a few rounds in the ring then later with a tom or a queen in a back room. She has no need for a proper mate and as for friends, only a couple can say they have seen Neira with her truly relaxed and content.
Neira doesn't really have an interesting history. At least, in her opinion she doesn't. No childhood traumas, no parental infidelity. Growing up in a small nomadic tribe on the south coast was almost idyllic. It wasn't an easy life but it was a good life. She spent her days exploring the rocks and cliffs, playfighting with the other youngsters. At night the elders would share stories and they'd sing songs glorifying the Everlasting Cat, Bast and the Cat Sith. She learned to hunt and fight, heal and create. So how did this wild cat end up in the middle of London?
Well, when she turned sixteen she was given the option of taking a role in the tribe or leaving. It may sound harsh to humans but stepping out alone is something that cats must do from time to time. It builds character. So, Neira took the adventurous option. Even the most isolated feline in Britain had heard of the Jellicle tribe and its annual ritual of sending a cat to the Heaviside Layer. Thirsty to find out whether the stories were true, the tabby left for London.
It took her a while to reach the Jellicles and her journey was far from perfect. She was even kept in an animal shelter for a month, fixed then sold to a lady who intended to keep her inside the house. This did not sit well at all and Neira managed to cause enough damage to get kicked out (eating the budgie was probably the last straw). While the shelter had been a bit of a set back, she did find herself closer to where she wanted to be after escaping the batty old lady. Next, she spent the next few years exploring the streets, getting to know feline London intimately. She made a few friends but twice as many enemies which was how she finally ended up getting adopted into the Jellicle tribe. Having gotten mixed up with the wrong sorts, Neira found herself in a three-on-one brawl and was unconscious when a group of Jellicles found her. She was brought back to the yard and as the say, the rest is history.
She's been a Jellicle for around six years now and although she denies it, she does feel a sense of loyalty to the tribe and having experienced the past few Balls, she really doesn't understand the hype.
