Family: Sillabub (Daughter)
Personality: Demeter is a conflicted Queen who often internally battles with herself in regards to what is wrong and what is right, and what she can do and what she can get away with. Yes, she is a very skittish cat, and very anxious. She's constantly worried about what others think of her and feels she can't truly be herself otherwise she will be judged with her opinions and her stories. Like the markings in her coat she is a bit scatter brained and can lose sight of things occasionally. She has a deep connection with Macavity and even though she hasn't been with him for many years she still feels that connection which helps her to warn the other cats of his presence.
Demeter often feels alone or out of place in the junkyard because she doesn't feel comfortable letting other's in on her deep and darkest secrets. She has an everlasting pain which she feels she can never fill. She puts on a brave face when she's with the other cats but can't bring herself to be near the kittens.
History: Demeter was bought to the junkyard as a young kitten who had been left abandoned on the street by herself. She was found by Old Deauteronomy and given to the tribe to take care of. Demeter doesn't remember her parents and she never wants to know them. She found that she didn't always fit in with the other cats as she wasn't as outgoing as the other's around her age. As she began to grow up she started to nab the interest of some of the toms, but not only in the junkyard. As she was heading home to her humans one night she met a charming and courteous Tom cat by the name of Macavity, he somehow drew her to him and she was hooked. He escorted her home and they talked.
The weeks passed and Demeter found herself with Macavity on her mind all the time, she was 15, she was allowed to think about the tom. She had heard the stories whispered about him throughout the junkyard but she couldn't believe them, he was so sweet to her, she knew that lies could be made up easily like a game of chinese whispers. A couple of months later she made the decision to be with Macavity permanently as other cats had begun to critise her and warn her to stay away from him, but she refused to listen.
At first everything was amazing, she was treated like a Queen and given special privileges, but one day things began to change, Macavity had decided to show her the more gritty side of the business he was running and she became a little bit more believing of what she had been told by the Jellicles. She tried to put on a brave face but her bravado soon failed when Macavity realised she was starting to pull away from him. Sh had confided her fears to Admetus who seemed to be the only person who didn't treat her differently, he treated her as an equal and found herself falling for him, but she knew she had to be careful due to Macavity. One night, after words were spoken Demeter ran off to her private quarters instead of Macavity's shared ones, he wasn't happy with that and he raped and beat her in a fit of rage. He began to get obsessive over her and if she wouldn't be with him no one would be with her.
After a few months of being treated like a prisoner Demeter took off from the warehouse, unsure how she had managed the seemingly impossible feat and who had allowed it to happen, she had discovered she was pregnant, she knew she was, and she knew the Jellicles would hardly accept her back, let alone a kitten by the Napoleon of crime himself. She couldn't get rid of it though, she couldn't bring herself to do that, and as much as it hurt her she made the decision to abandon the kitten very much like her own parents had abandoned her. At sixteen she had given birth to her daughter who she had named Sillabub. Her colouring was white and cream with blotches of yellow through her, but what was striking was her black markings, they were identical to Demeter's own, it broke her heart to leave her daughter and she briefly considered taking her with her, but then decided against it, the kitten would be judged. She left her on the outskirts of the hench grounds, but deep down she had hoped that a Jellicle would of gotten to her first, but when she never turned up in the junkyard Demeter accepted the inevitable.
Being back in the junkyard sh was accepted by all the tribe and she tucked her pain away where no one would question her or the decisions he made. Some of the Queen's are a bit skeptical as to why she avoids the kittens but they don't say anything to her face. Lately though as she watches the current generation of kittens grow up she thinks bout her daughter and if she is still alive and how she turned out. She want's to find her but isn't sure if she can bring herself to return to the warehouse.
