FELINE APPEARANCE
Family: Griddlebone: Adopted mother (actually real mother too, but Oswin doesn't know)
Personality:
Cute: Okay, I know "cute" isn't really a personality thing per se... What I mean by it is that one of her favorite things is to behave in a sweet, shy, loving manner to everyone. Sometimes it's genuine (she really does have a good heart, despite living with the Henches); other times it's her sneaky way of trying to trick someone or get away with something.
Sly: A huge part of her slyness is using her cuteness to get away with something. She is extremely manipulative, which is an asset to the Henches: she can convince almost anyone of anything with those big, sad looking eyes of hers. Not so much the Henches, but it works excellently on Jellicles or anyone ese with half a heart. Thus, she is often useful for getting information. Another part of her slyness is that she can sneak around easily without being noticed: so she spies regularly on the Jellicles and anyone else Macavity might wish.
Mischievous: She doesn't just use her abilities to help the Henchcats - far from it. If she hasn't been sent to do anything, she loves to cause trouble. It can be as innocent as annoying a Hench till he wants to claw his own eyes out, or as serious as seeing how nearly she can foil a plan of Macavity's without getting caught.
Fun-loving: She loves to have fun. She is still very much a kitten - despite being quite nearly adult age, she is still very silly and immature. Most of her fun consists of annoying/playing tricks on others, but she also just likes to have regular kitten fun - dancing around, singing, imagining things, etc.
Feisty: Despite her generally cheerful nature, she has quite the temper if you say or do just the right thing. Of course, she's rather weak physically, so she can't cause any damage that way. However, she can screech and whine the living-daylights out of anyone, which brings us to...
Whiny/Sensitive: She is easily hurt/upset; however, there's no real way to tell where genuine feeling ends and purposeful overreaction begins. She herself doesn't even know. She has become accustomed to dramatically overreacting to just about everything, and she will whine and nag until someone finally locks her up for a while just to have a break from her.
Slightly-Mad: She's not diagnosably mad; she just has some habits some might consider odd. For example, she has a habit of talking to herself and to imaginary people who aren't there, even while she's holding a conversation with a real person right in front of her. She knows what she is doing, but most would probably call her bonkers.
History:
Oswin has no memory of mother or father. She has a vague recollection of somecat with her at some point, a sibling maybe, but it's more of a shadow in her mind and she doesn't think of it often, as she assumes whoever it was is long dead. Her earliest real memory is wandering the streets, practically starving and searching for a place to stay. Her wanderings brought her to the warehouse and Macavity's hench-tribe. For reasons she still does not understand, she was allowed to live.
Although still confused as to why she, a starving, to all appearances useless kit, was not simply disposed of on the spot, she shrugs it off as the strangeness of Macavity and Hench ways. Perhaps they thought she would prove useful. Well, she certainly has at that. She is often the one called-on whenever someone is needed to spy or "sweet-talk" an enemy - Jellicle or otherwise. This is good for her, since she would be useless in actual physical combat. She makes her way among the Henches pretty well. However, in her heart of hearts, she is not really cut out for Hench life. She does not even understand this feeling herself, nor does she understand what bothers her about the Henches' violent ways, but she knows something is strange and wrong about it. But it's the only life she has ever known, and, although she sometimes daydreams about what it would be like to live among the Jellicles, she is far from actually considering to leave the Henches. She fears the unknown - she also has a deep-seated fear and respect for Macavity, enough that she would be too afraid to try to desert the Henches even if she wanted to. So, she stays, does the little jobs she's given, and has her fun in her free-time.
