Personality:
Carbucketty is honest with others. He won't beat around the bush, or sugar coat anything. If you need an honest opinion on a situation or something else. Or if you need something beyond placating platitudes/sympathies, then Buck would be the one to go to. He won't spare feelings, mainly because he doesn't care to. He doesn't flash his feelings around to everyone else...ever, so can't be bothered with anyone else's either. Just be forewarned, Buck doesn't care, so if you do go to him for his opinion, don't ask for anything else, or you'll be sorely disappointed.
With himself though, is were he is a liar, and dishonest. If there's anything to do with his feelings he will clam up. He will not talk about his feelings, and will grow angry with anyone trying to force him to talk about them. Even if its something simple like 'how was your day' or how's it going'. He won't even bother with the standard reply of "It's" or "I'm fine." That still deals with his feelings or indicates him opening up to someone, even a tiny bit. And it is something he will not do. About the only thing that remains constant is the fact that he doesn't care. Buck doesn't care about his own feelings anymore then he care's for others feelings.
It's not to say he doesn't have feelings. Ironically, Buck is a very emotional tom. His feelings are always there, in his eyes and in his actions. He can't help but to show the angry, troubled, and all around screwed-up tom that he is. But talking about it, is something completely different. His temper will also flare, if someone confronts him on his feelings, or that they know what he's going through or can see his emotions. And he does get angry a lot. But it's because it was the main emotion bred in him growing up. And it the only one he's really familiar and comfortable with. And usually if he gets angry, it's because someone struck an uncomfortable chord.
Buck has been described as daring recently, mainly due to his actions after becoming a Jellicle Protector on his 22nd birthday. If he is the first to see/encounter danger, intruders, or see someone hurting another Jellicle, he is the first to jump to the scene, or to jump in front of an onslaught. He has no hesitation or qualms about fighting, and is unafraid to receive hits in return. With the most recent Macavity attack, Carbucketty had protected Victoria from an intruding Hench cat. This had earned him points and respect to many of the jellicles that didn't like him, for his bravery. However, he doesn't view himself as brave. He still thinks of himself as a lowly punk that isn't worth it; a punk with a death wish.

History:
Carbucketty, unfortunately, never knew his real parents. They were drug users, and junkies, that liked hanging out together, but his parents weren't in love with each other when Buck was conceived. They had both been too high to even know what they were doing, and were too drunk to remember sleeping together by the morning. Months passed, and Buck's mother never even realized or had an inkling that she was pregnant. Only after she started going in labor did she realize something was 'wrong'. She gave birth to Carbucketty, and still coming down from a high, left the small infant right where she had birthed him and went on her marry way. A few hours later, she probably had even forgotten she had given birth in the first place. (In all reality, Carbucketty's parents are most likely dead by now, but as he never knew them, it doesn't matter much either way.)
He was picked up by one of the gang members, in the desolate part of the city, wailing at the top of his lungs. He was not a loved member of the gang, but seen more as a pet project for most. He was raised by the gang, though its probably more accurate to say he was bullied, abused, and neglected during his childhood and teen years. But having nothing else to compare it to, Buck didn't realize how poorly he was being treated. He just figured that's what life was and how everyone lived. It sucked but it was what it was. He was surviving, and that was good enough for him. In fact, it was around the time he turned fifteen that he finally befriended another gang-member. He had paid his dues, and was no longer the runt. He still got beat on if he did something wrong, but for the most part, the other gangmembers had moved onto new meat and he earned a small measure of respect.
Carbucketty started getting closer to Absinthe, he was still a kind of a prick, but Carbucketty saw through the bullcrap and developed a friendship with him. It was a dysfunctional friendship, but it was his first healthy bond to another living being. They grew closer, and they ended up being paired together for patrols, beat downs, scoring drugs; you name it. They pretty much became inseparable. Carbucketty unfortunately also began to realize a growing fondness, affection and attraction on his part for Absinthe. This blew up in Buck's face. For he finally made a move and kissed Absinthe. Absinthe was disgusted with Buck, and Buck tried to explain that he just read the signals wrong and attempted to make up a lie to explain it wasn't what he thought it was. This didn't fly, and Carbucketty was outed as gay to the gang he lived with and the only family he knew.
Absinthe also told them that Buck had assaulted him and attempted to force himself onto him. They were not a tolerant bunch, and beat on Absinthe for allowing Buck to assault him; seeing this and his admission as a weakness. Absinthe didn't get it that badly, but was kicked out of the gang. Buck was not so lucky. He was beaten, badly. They had every intention of beating Buck to death. As soon as they had finished, Buck barely drew breath and they dumped him in the Thames, leaving him for dead, and assuming that would kill him. He was only 18 when he almost died. He washed up on the shore, and was found by an older queen. She found out that he still had a faint pulse, and gave him some herbs, in the hopes he'd survive the journey. Then Buck was part way dragged and part way carried to the junkyard.
She had been a close friend of Gus, and they allowed her to bring him in to the healer's den. She left him in the care of the Jellicle healers, and then went back home. And while he did finally regain consciousness, he either couldn't or wouldn't speak to anyone. He could barely move. He spent two years in recovery. After a year, he did have almost full physical movement back, but while he still walked with a limp, he had yet to say anything and needed more time to come to terms with what he had been through mentally. He did start to speak after a year and a half after waking up in the junkyard. But having not used his voice in almost two years, it became part of his recovery. Unfortunately, seeing how the jellicle's lived, compared to his upbringing, anger began to really grow within him. Why did they get such pampered and privileged lives, when his life had been so harsh and terrible?
Because of his growing anger over how innocent the jellicles were and how most of them never had or would ever have to deal with the kind of tragedy he went through, on top of his growing awareness of what he went through growing up and what he had survived...Carbucketty began to act out. Small things at first, but he soon began to get into fist fights with other jellicle members. (Just toms. But he did his fair share of alienating the queens with rude comments) He had pretty much made sure he had zero friends, and made most of the jellicles an enemy to him, or at the very least many of them were cautious and disapproving of him. He ended up disappearing for a time. Only to be found by Munkustrap, in the middle of a thunderstorm. While everyone else was safely in their dens or human homes, Munk had done a final patrol and found Carbucketty crying in the center of the junkyard, with rain pouring down around them.
Munkustrap never learned why Carbucketty was crying but held him all the same. From that point on, Munkustrap took a liking to Carbucketty and is currently Buck's only friend. He took Buck under his wing, and helped him to acclimatize better to life in the junkyard. Buck is still not the friendliest of toms, but much of his anger is gone. The anger he has left is focused on other activities. Buck has not started fist fights since the night in the rain, but he won't hesitate to throw a punch if someone insults him or if he perceives some gesture or words as a threat. Due to his past, and his friendship with Munkustrap, Munkustrap had nominated him for a position with the yard protectors. Knowing he is a capable fighter, Carbucketty completed his training and officially became a Yard Protector at the start of his 22nd birthday.
**Note; Carbucketty is bisexual, but is more attracted to toms, then queens. For he had been paired with queens in the gang before befriending Absinthe, and enjoyed them. Though because of nearly being killed for his attraction to toms, he will bury any attraction he has for a tom.

I am willing to change Munkustrap to one of the other Jellicle Protectors, in Buck's history. For whoever ends up taking Munkustrap in the future and wishes this to be removed. But since we don't have a Munk yet, I figured it'd be safer to have that role in Buck's life to be Munk.
