Personality:
For a tom whose been working in the shadier businesses since he was fifteen, he was bound to pick up some skills. He's a tom who is very hard to read. Of course, the fact that his face tends to be covered (due to his appearance), lends support to this particular trait. Being able to see one's expression is usually the main way for another to know how they are feeling, but his coverings effectively cut that ability off. However, Keiiji has the mental discipline to not reveal his emotions to others. Years of conditioning have taught him to reveal his emotions were to reveal his weaknesses as well. And in his line of work, weaknesses would get him killed. His conditioning also delved into the mental discipline to keep his emotions hidden. Despite living at the junkyard for a year, he hasn't learned to show his emotions any better then before. His nearly emotionless reactions to everything has created a stand-offish aura around him when he's trying to make friends. Yet, when conducting business he finds that it's a skill that he can't live without.
Due to his inability to show his emotions, he does have a reputation. The most common and widely accepted role that the jellicles have given him is misunderstood. He's the mysterious stranger with a past full of bad boy tendencies, and romantic undertones. Or his favorite, the reformed bad boy trying to redeem himself of his past deeds. He clearly must be the latter, as he joined the jellicles and has been staying there; without doing anything 'bad'. However, the older generation see him for what he is. A tom who is only loyal to one thing; himself. Yet, he's not as bad as Macavity and could be used against the ginger tom. He is the "Devil they know." He is under constant scrutiny, as well as distrust. Life hasn't been the kindest since he joined the jellicle tribe, from the jellicles point of view. However, scrutiny, distrust, and idle threats are things he's lived with his whole life. The whole difference, is Keiiji doesn't feel like he always has to watch his back when he's with the jellicles. In fact, he feels almost safe there. There have been a few jellicle's that have given him the benefit of the doubt, however.
Keiiji has certain skills that are not used by the jellicles. He keeps this skills hidden, believing he would be banned from the yard if they found out his dirty past. Many who hired him considered him an assassin, but that was just one of many jobs that he'd do. He was a mercenary. And was trained for survival. Old habits die hard and all. Because Keiiji still only looks out for himself. His loyalty has come into question once or twice with the jellicles. For Keiiji, it isn't about loyalty. Loyalty doesn't come into play, because he has no loyalty to anyone or any tribe. His loyalty is to himself, and Keiiji will do what's best for Keiiji. From a business aspect, you can expect loyalty from Keiiji has far as the job goes. No more and no less. But in everyday life, Keiiji needs and has to look out for himself. It was bred into him, and it's not something you can unteach after so long of a time. Keiiji also has a short attention span. It's not bad to the point of having A.D.D. Keiiji doesn't get distracted in the middle of a sentence because something shiny caught his attention. Don't confuse his love for shiny objects as him being easily distracted. He has lost his train of thought when presented with a shiny object, but only once or twice. Keiiji just gets easily bored. It's one reason why he had an eclectic collection of jobs he'd do for others. Everything from obtaining items for others, dealing drugs, to taking out cats that others pay him to kill. It kept life interesting, so he wouldn't get bored with the status quo.

History:
Keiiji is one of Growltiger's illegitimate son's. Growltiger had most likely had a short tryst with Keiiji's mother during one of his on shore leaves. And then broke it off when it was time to go back on the ship and never looked back and never knew he had impregnated the queen. However, Keiiji's mother was a pure Bengal queen, a real exotic beauty and most likely one of the reasons why Growltiger had been attracted to her in the first place. She didn't realize she was pregnant at first, either. For whatever reason, she decided to keep her baby until term. However, a few days after giving birth, she gave Keiiji to her older sister to raise, and like his father, Keiiji's mother never looked back after giving him up. His new guardian, kept him until he was two, as soon as he was off of nursing and could walk. Raising a kitten, had been something she had done many times and was out of practice and getting too old to keep up with a young kitten. She too gave him up.
Keiiji was passed to her youngest son, who was mated and the pair were expecting their first kitten as well. They had expressed wanting an older sibling for their kitten; to have a companion. And since Keiiji was still within the family, he'd be their kittens second cousin, they gladly took him in. The first three months were quite wonderful for Keiiji, though uneventful. The pair had their kitten, and were slowly teaching Keiiji how to behave around his "adopted" brother. And if Keiiji had stayed in their stable environment and were raised by his cousins, Keiiji would have turned out differently. Sadly, fate was not kind. They lived in a small niche, in an abandoned building, and none of the cats had known it was abandoned because it was scheduled to be demolished. Keiiji had just turned three, days before, when the family had been woken up by loud noises, accompanied by the entire building vibrating around them. They had panicked and attempted to rush out of the building before it came crashing down around them.
Unfortunately, while Keiiji was lagging behind, he still saw his 'father', 'mother' and 'brother' get hit from the collapsing ceiling before his own world grayed out and everything went to black. Keiiji has no idea what happened after that, but somehow he had regained consciousness, was remarkably still alive and managed to get out of the ruins of the building. Keiiji, he was found wandering the streets in a daze a few days later, with no memory of what happened. A sadistic tom named Axel was the one to find the poor kid. Although Axel took Keiiji in, fed him and gave him the comforts a kitten would need to survive, Axel did it for his own selfish reasons. Axel wanted a kitten he could basically mold into what he wanted. Axel spent the first several years treating Keiiji like his own son. He was generous, affectionate, loving and helpful. However, when Keiiji turned eight, Axel began his terror on Keiiji. And because of his love and affection the first few years, Keiiji was attached and loyal to Axel. No matter what Axel was going to put him through, Keiiji would take it and would never even think of leaving.
Axel spent the next four years completely breaking Keiiji down. He used dangerous and potentially fatal ways of breaking Keiiji's spirit and mind. He was ruthless, and never let up. Keiiji was tortured. Their was physical torture, to toughen the preteen up, and ensure he would be able to handle pain (for what he had planned for Keiiji in the future), but many of the rigorous programs Kei was put through were to break him mentally. Keiiji couldn't just be the perfect weapon for Axel in the future, but he had to think the same things Axel did, and have the same beliefs and reactions. To give a brief example of what Keiiji went through; physically he once had to endure his arms being twisted behind his back until they literally broke, and mentally, Axel once kept him in a small room, with a bright light and interrogated him for days. Keiiji wasn't allowed to sleep, and he eventually was brought to the edge, for his lack of sleep that long brought on hallucinations.
When he was twelve, Keiiji was completely broken and open for Axel to 'reprogram' him. In short, Keiiji was pretty much brainwashed. He spent the next three years being conditioned and bred to Axel's specific parameters. Those three years weren't nearly as bad as the previous four, but in some ways it was worse. Axel pretty much dehumanized Kei, stripped him away of what he could have been and whether Keiiji can ever learn to express it in the future or not, he deeply scarred Keiiji. Badly. Unfortunately, because of the training Axel put him through, even if he realizes that he is screwed up, he cannot express it. Anyway, by the time Keiiji turned fifteen, he was Axel's. He was the perfect emotionless, brute strength weapon for the tom. And, of course, by this point in time Axel had made many enemies. But with Keiiji as his shield and sword, he was able to keep them at bay. He also used Keiiji to get back into the "game".
Unsurprisingly, it was Axel who had gotten Keiiji into the shady side of the city. Keiiji, like any new recruit started off small. Simple delivery errands to prized and special customers. This soon turned to petty thievery. He stuck with this for a while, but he also got into supplying more then just items for certain individuals, he got into dealing drugs. He obtained things illegally and would also smuggle things away illegally as well. He had his fingers dipped into every type of illegal job that you could imagine. All but murder. But it was inevitable. He eventually was approached by some tom with clout in the city who hired him to kill one of his enemies. He could have blamed Axel's "special" way of raising him, for why he accepted the job without hesitating. And though it did play a factor, it was still Keiiji who took on the choice. He could have stayed doing everything else illegal, but he didn't want to get bored, and he was bred to do the things he was doing.
Life continued on, and he continued to work for himself. He was living on his own by this point, in fact the day after he took his first life, he found a place for himself to live. He chose to continue freelance, and declined any representative trying to recruit him into their tribe. One was the hench tribe, but Keiiji had never even heard of the jellicle tribe, not yet. When he was twenty, a couple asked him if he'd take on a job for them without asking for details. The payment was too good to pass up, and Keiiji accepted. It was an assassination job, and ironically he was to assassinate Axel. Axel did everything he could to get Kei to spare his life, even sobbing and pleading. However, Keiiji told Axel he taught him well and killed him, again without hesitating. After the death of Axel, his reputation and popularity in his social circle rose high. He became the most sought out mercenary for his successful job concerning Axel, his past accomplishments, and his loyalty to get the job done. He's a tom who honors his commitments.
This lasted for a while, until he ran into a lowlife intent on killing a cat(OPEN) that was already on the ground and defenseless. Keiiji may be a mercenary/assassin for hire, but he didn't view himself as a killer. Those who hired him were the ones with intent, he was just the tool...the gun (if you want to use a metaphor) that was used in the other's demise. So he stepped in, attacking the attacker and saving the cat on the ground. Keiiji soon learned they were a jellicle and he helped them back to their tribe. He returned to his life, for a bit. However, once he turned twenty-eight, Keiiji felt he needed a change of scenery. He needed something new in his life, to keep him from getting bored. Keiiji soon found himself at the Jellicle Tribe and asked Old Deuteronomy for sanctuary. Having saved one of their own in the past, Deuteronomy agreed. This hasn't stopped his lifestyle, he see's the only difference is that he lives somewhere new. In fact, keeping his lifestyle a secret from the other jellicles is a new challenge and keeps him from getting bored. However, he doesn't take on as many jobs as he use to. He still works for Macavity, and has several jobs lined up for the ginger tom.
