KOPI
•24•HENCH/HORDE•CHRISTOPHER LARKIN•
Appearance: Kopi is a mix, coming from a purebred Siamese father and a mixed breed mother. Because of this, he was born with the typical Siamese colorpoint markings, but his build is shorter and stockier than most, and his eyes are such a dark brown that they seem almost black.•24•HENCH/HORDE•CHRISTOPHER LARKIN•
Family: Father: Yuen ; Mother: unknown ; Half-Brother: Carbucketty [through mother, unknown]
Personality: Though reserved, Kopi is known by many for his compassion for others. He spends a lot of his energy ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him, and rarely asks for anything in return - their ease is reward enough for him. He is incredibly hard-working and dependable. He excels at understanding emotions, but has spent years keeping his own bottled up and never learned how to express them properly. This does not mean that he does not understand his own feelings. Quite the contrary - he is extremely aware of his feelings. He keeps quiet to avoid burdening others with his troubles.
Kopi avoids structure and strict rules, preferring the freedom of doing as he pleases. He does not fight against his responsibilities, though. His prime drive is ensuring the comfort of others, and that includes his 'employers', even if he does not care for them. He is more comfortable staying in the background and observe, and has no dreams of leading. He is truly warm and kind-hearted, and tries to believe the best of others.
A strong sense of responsibility was instilled in Kopi at a young age, and his devotion to duty has followed him into young adulthood. He craves positive feedback and becomes deeply discouraged if he criticized, or even if he is simply not being praised. He is plagued by feelings of inadequacy, and often believes that he can't do anything right. He is very sensitive, to others and to his own mind, and is talented at keeping things running smoothly.
Above all, Kopi is a dreamer. Because he does not express his own emotions, he has a rich inner world. He has dreamed an ideal life, and yearns to leave Ghengis' service to begin it.
History: Kopi's father, Yeun, was always a dedicated and lifelong employee of Ghengis (and Macavity, through him). He had never planned to have a family, but Kopi came anyway, the product of a one night stand with a queen who abandoned him and left. Technically, Kopi was raised by his father, though more often than not he was handed over to whatever cat was closest while his father carried on with his business. He spent his childhood thinking, hoping, that he would simply be left to his own devices when he was old enough, but Yeun had other plans.
Kopi's training started when he was still a child. His father used the toughest tactics he could manage to try to teach his son how to fight, how to negotiate, and how to be the perfect follower in Ghengis' service. And since childhood, Kopi has been a terrible disappointment. He regularly skipped out on sparring rounds, and whined his way through any lessons Yeun tried to give him.
He was eight the first time Yeun struck him. A too-hard punch to the gut when Kopi let his attention waver during a sparring session. Yeun had insisted that it was only because he hadn't been paying attention enough to block it, and that it hadn't even been a very hard punch, but Kopi still ran. Each time Yeun fetched him for another sparring session, Kopi would refuse, and Yeun would hit him in an attempt to goad him into attacking back. Eventually, this became a daily routine.
Over the years, Kopi learned how to best protect himself against his father's attack, and eventually, how to fight back well enough to convince him to leave him alone. Yeun stopped training him when he was sixteen, satisfied that he was skilled enough to fight and old enough to fend for himself. He has lived on his own in the Warehouse since then, a forgettable young Hench whose greatest responsibility is delivering messages. Thanks to his size, he is rarely chosen for any mission requiring brute force. He serves Ghengis and Macavity in whatever way is required, avoids his father at all costs, and, for the most part, stays far out of the way, ignoring the dreams he has for a better life.
