Personality:
Jemima is horribly sheltered. Having overbearing and steadfast protective guardians, didn't give her the opportunities to experience much of life. This makes her quite naive to many things. Unfortunately, this also makes her incredibly gullible and will believe lies more readily then some others will. Situations, others emotions even, things that others know by instinct seem to go over her head. And don't even try to get her onto any complicated situations. She's not dumb, she'll learn these concepts in time, but for all intents and purposes, she is still very much a kitten. There are just events, as well as other items, situations, and ideas that are completely foreign to her. She views all the things she has never seen or experienced the way a kitten would. With wide expressive eyes, awe in her voice and glee.
She is loyal to a fault, to anyone that she perceives as her friends and family. She is supportive when she is suppose to be, giggles at jokes. However when it comes to her own emotions, she has difficulty expressing it through words. Normally, if she is in need of comfort, she'll grab the closest arm and wrap it around herself. She will sometimes express herself with her words, but its easier for her when she's around a queen or a tom she's not attracted to. However, if you don't mind some mumbling, jumping around the bush and cute stutters, then you'll be fine. Her biggest trait is how she is constantly in her head. Growing up sheltered, and with nothing to really do, she passed the time by daydreaming. She tends to spend a lot of her time fantasizing.
She often dreams up the perfect tom, the perfect situation. Him taking her away to go on a romantic date. Both of them saying all the right things, and she being 'swept' off her feet. Reality proves to be vastly different. While things tend to go smoothly in her head, her social etiquette is very awkward. She stutters a lot, but its worse if she is around a tom she is attracted to(assuming she can talk at all). She also tends to snap out of her daydreams at weird times, and saying the first thing that comes to her mind; you can imagine how awkward she tends to make a situation.
Jemmie knew she was born without mystical abilities for a reason, and she began to really think hard on why. After seeking counsel with Old Deuteronomy, she turned to the everlasting cat. At first, she did heavily overcompensate for her lack of 'mysticism' with her religious faith. She is a firm believer in everything happening for a reason, even if that reason seems to elude everyone at the time. She's confident that she'll learn the reason later on in her life. Her faith tends to drive her more then anything else. It has given her the rare gift of believing in others. Jemima always see's the good in everyone, because no one is born evil. She believes in the heavyside layer and in reincarnation; and most importantly in second chances. That's what the Jellicle Ball boils down to her. If she ever lost her faith, she'd be lost, she would have lost her center and her purpose.
History:
Jemima was the youngest and last kitten born to Rhaella. She was born during a lovely thunderstorm, a month and a half before her due date. She was extremely tiny, being a premature baby. Though despite being a premmie, there were little to no complications during her birth. Jemima was monitored during her first few weeks after her birth, but she didn't have any problems and was a bouncy healthy baby. It was almost a year after she was born that tragedy struck. Rhaella died, and Coricopat had been the strong one. Jemima was too young to remember. Later on her life, she completely forgets about Rhaella; she still remembers her name, but not her face, eyes, voice, or any of her habits. Just her name.
Coricopat, though young himself, took Jemima and raised her the best that he could. Jemima proved to be a difficult challenge for him in her early years. But the second she became a kitten, she bundled away from the den and would rush to see her friends. Coricopat had developed a very overprotective bond with Jemima and tended to keep her inside, sheltering her from the rest of the world. He was contantly scared that something similar might happen to Jemima as it did with Rhaella, and Coricopat kept an ever watchful gaze on her. Jemima grew up under his care, and even though Jemima knows Coricopat is her brother, she can't help but to think of him as her father.
Once she was old enough to attend her first jellicle ball, Coricopat kept her from it. Jemima had obeyed, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't sulk all night long. However, later that night after the ball, Jemima had been sitting just outside her den. One of the jellicle toms[Open] had cheered her up and pulled her into a little dance before her brother came back. Her spirits had definitely lifted and she began to wonder what she was missing in life. It was about two years later when Jemima exercised her first real "rebellious" teenager act. She had told her brother she wanted to go to the ball, and that she wasn't going to take no for an answer.
She stuttered out an apology immediately afterwards. However, once Jemima began to tear up, he relented and let her go to her first ball. She had gotten her first bout of the real world at the ball, even if it had been sugared down a lot with dancing and singing. But the sight of Grizabella had touched her in ways she never thought a stranger would be able to. It had been a memorable night, and she's determined to start experiencing life now.
