Family:
Tarran (adoptive father, alive and in London)
Balos (adoptive father, alive and in London)
Personality: Tumblebrutus is a pacifist at heart. He has an extreme dislike for conflict, and would rather solve things through words and common sense, than resort to violence. He is a child of nature, and feels a stronger, spiritual connection to the earth and its lesser animals than he does to his fellow cats. This is why he opposes violence so much – because, in the long run, it hurts these factors more than it does anything else, and to him, this upsets the balance of nature. He believes strongly in ultimate beauty; within the world, within the soul, and within the universe. He is easily upset, though he rarely shows it, as he feels this would cause unneeded stress and drama to others. He values everyone else above himself, and rarely wishes harm on any. At his worst, he is a force to be reckoned with, as if he were Mother Nature herself. He is stronger when scorned. Do not take him for a shrinking violet due to his nice demeanor.
Tumble is very likable and has many positive traits. He is kind and giving, a healer by nature. He wishes only the best for everyone, and is an eternal optimist. He is also very loyal and strong, though he is not very straightforward and blunt about it. He is a good emotional absorbent, in that he can take everything that others are feeling, positive or negative, and understand it. If he likes a cat, he will generally give them the benefit of the doubt if they are in trouble and do everything he can to help.
However, if a cat has betrayed or upset him, his negative side comes out. Thanks to his natural understanding of others, he knows nearly everybody's strengths and weaknesses and can use them against others, picking at scabs in their mind. Never, ever think that Tumble is weak, nor underestimate him. Another negative trait of his is his habitual tendency to try and be what he thinks others need him to be. He will try and form himself to what he thinks someone needs in order to make them happy without a moment of hesitation.
Tumblebrutus has many acquaintances, rather than a large circle of friends. He can get along with most cats from a distance, and he prefers it that way. He has no need to get close to cats, because his sense and observation of everything around him shows what a cat feels, what they are thinking, and he doesn't need to talk to them to understand their point of view. He is perfectly comfortable knowing many cats but having only a few close, true friends. He loves random acts of kindness toward his closest friends, because they bring out the nurturing, affectionate side in him. Due to his avoidance of conflict, friendships for Tumble can last a long time.
Intimate relationships for Tumblebrutus can be a difficult thing. This is because, as much as he doesn't want to admit it, he avoids the real world, and that includes the struggle of trying to keep a stable romance with someone. He doesn't want to argue, even when it may sometimes be necessary. He doesn't want to know where the relationship is going – he only wants to know that it goes, and be happy with it in that way. This causes a lot of commitment problems within him, because while he is very nurturing, he tends to view cats more as projects, rather than as a partner.
Tumble wants an environment where he feels full wholeness and correctness, where everything needs to fit in his order. He is an intellectual and spiritual nomad, looking for the perfect place for him. He views himself as a good person, and that is as simply as he puts it. He tries not to look into the negative aspect of his self, as when he does, he feels very put down, like he is unworthy of where he has gotten in life. So he focuses on the positive, and sees himself as nothing but happy. His life mission is to help others, kill with kindness, and ultimately, reach a state of nirvana.
History: Tumblebrutus was born, not in the UK, but 'across the pond' in Canada. He was a mutt through and through, unplanned and unwanted, and abandoned before he even opened his eyes. The first thing he saw when his eyes finally opened was the two toms who found him. They brought him to the quarry where their tribe lived, and raised him as their own son. Indeed, he did not realize until he was seven or eight that the two were not his biological parents – the birds and the bees were rather befuddling to him.
While they seemed wholesome and unassuming to him, Tumble's fathers got themselves involved in a number of nefarious deals. They were addicts in every sense of the word, always chasing a cheap thrill, an easy high, and often found themselves unable to pay the price. This was the reason Tumble ended up in London. His fathers got into trouble with a high profile bookie in their town, and fled across the sea rather than risk their safety and the safety of their son.
Of course, Tumble had no idea why the family relocated so dramatically. He was only ten or so, and it never occurred to him to question anything his fathers did. Besides, he was ecstatic to be in such a cool place and meet so many new, cool cats. He befriended others easily, especially those cats who lived in the junkyard, those Jellicles. He visited them so often that he was practically an honorary member of the tribe within months.
His fathers weren't so lucky. Suspicious and paranoid, they made very few attempts at finding new friends.
